Electric Blinds — Motorised Options Across Selected Ranges

Motorised blinds for convenient remote operation, available across selected blind types and systems. Product compatibility, power source and control options depend on the blind specification and are confirmed during your free home visit. Supplied and fitted across Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton.

Motorised blinds remove the chain, cord or wand and replace it with remote, app or hub control — operated at the touch of a button instead of by hand. The technology behind that varies: rechargeable battery motors, mains or hardwired systems, and a range of control options from a simple handheld remote through to app and selected smart-home integration.

Motorisation is not available in the same way across every blind type we supply. Some ranges offer full motorised raise and lower, others offer motorised tilt only, and some of our ranges are not currently available motorised at all. Which options apply to your blind depends on the specific product, size and specification — see the compatibility table below.

At Blinds Kingdom we supply and fit motorised blinds across Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton. Because the right motor, control method and power source depend on your chosen blind type and window, every installation begins with a free home visit where our surveyor confirms exactly what is available for your specification.

Why Choose Electric Blinds?

Cordless Convenience

Where a blind is motorised, the chain, cord or wand is removed entirely — operated instead by remote, app or hub, supporting UK child safety requirements.

Hard-to-Reach and High Windows

For windows that are difficult or impossible to reach by hand — above stairs, over kitchen units or at high level — motorised operation gives you control without a pole or ladder.

Rechargeable Battery or Hardwired Options

Depending on the blind and motor system selected, motorised options are available with rechargeable battery power or a mains/hardwired connection — confirmed for your specification at survey.

Multiple Blinds, Controlled Together

For rooms or commercial spaces with several windows, selected motorised systems allow multiple blinds to be operated together or centrally rather than one at a time.

Smart-Home Integration on Selected Systems

Selected motor systems can integrate with compatible smart-home platforms. Compatibility depends on the motor, hub and blind specification and is confirmed during consultation.

Know The Difference

Full Raise/Lower vs. Tilt Only

"Motorised" does not mean the same movement on every blind. Some ranges motorise the full raise and lower action, others motorise the tilt only — the mechanism does not draw or close the blind itself.

Made-to-measure Roman blind fitted to a bedroom windowFull Raise & Lower

Roller, Roman, Day & Night (standard), Wooden Venetian (selected)

The blind moves fully up and down (or, on Wooden Venetian, also tilts) at the touch of a button — the same movement as manual operation, just motorised.

Wooden Venetian blind with adjustable horizontal slatsTilt Only

Vertical Blinds, Faux Wood Blinds

Only the louvres or slats tilt open and closed. Motorised Vertical blinds do not draw the track open or closed; motorised Faux Wood blinds do not raise or lower.

Control Options

Remote Control — A handheld remote is the standard control method across most of our motorised ranges, operating one or several blinds directly.

App and Hub Control — On selected motor systems, blinds can also be controlled from a smartphone app, typically via a compatible hub. Availability depends on the motor system selected.

Schedules and Automation — Selected systems support scheduled or automated operation in addition to direct control.

Smart-Home Integration — Selected motor systems can integrate with compatible smart-home platforms. Compatibility depends on the motor, hub and blind specification and is confirmed during consultation.

Power Options

Power options depend on the blind and motor system selected. Rechargeable battery systems are available across many motorised applications, while mains-powered options are available on selected systems.

Rechargeable Battery — The most common power source across our motorised ranges. No wiring or electrician is typically required, and the battery is recharged periodically depending on usage.

Mains / Hardwired — Available on selected systems, particularly for premium, large or commercial installations. A hardwired connection may require an electrician — your surveyor will confirm this for your specification.

Solar Charging — Selected solar-charging accessories may also be available for certain motor systems, subject to specification. Availability is confirmed at survey.

Where Electric Blinds Are Useful

High or hard-to-reach windows — Above stairwells, over kitchen units, or anywhere manual operation is impractical.

Large glazing — Wide or heavy blinds that are cumbersome to operate manually can be motorised on selected ranges, subject to size and weight limits confirmed at survey.

Commercial and multi-blind settings — Offices and other spaces where several blinds need to operate together or be controlled centrally. See our Commercial Blinds page for hardwired and battery motorised systems used in these settings.

Bedrooms, living rooms and conservatories — Motorisation is available on selected products in these rooms subject to the compatibility notes above.

Survey and Installation Considerations

Because the available motor, control method and power source vary by blind type and specification, every motorised order begins with a free home visit. Your surveyor will confirm which options are genuinely available for your chosen blind, window and room before you order.

Rechargeable battery systems typically involve straightforward installation with no wiring. Mains or hardwired systems require a suitable electrical supply and may need an electrician — this is assessed and confirmed during your survey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which blinds can be motorised?

Motorised options are available on selected Roller, Roman, Day & Night (standard fascia only), Vertical (tilt only), Pleated/Cellular (selected free hanging, roof, lantern and gable systems), Wooden Venetian (50mm slats only) and Faux Wood (tilt only) specifications, plus selected Perfect Fit® Roller Blind setups. Aluminium Venetian and all other Perfect Fit® products are not currently available motorised. See the compatibility table above for full detail by blind type.

Do all motorised blinds raise and lower fully?

No. Roller, Roman, Day & Night and selected Wooden Venetian motors raise and lower fully. Motorised Vertical blinds tilt the louvres only and do not draw the track open or closed. Motorised Faux Wood blinds tilt the slats only and do not raise or lower.

Are motorised blinds battery powered or mains powered?

Both options exist depending on the blind and motor system. Roman blind motors are rechargeable battery powered with no wiring required. Wooden Venetian motors are available as rechargeable battery on standard systems, or battery/hardwired mains on selected systems. Power source for other ranges is confirmed for your specification at survey.

How do I know which motor, control and power options are available for my blind?

The exact motor, control and power options depend on your blind type, size and specification. Our surveyor confirms exactly what is available for you during your free home visit.

Do motorised blinds work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit?

Selected motor systems can integrate with compatible smart-home platforms. Compatibility depends on the motor, hub and blind specification and is confirmed during consultation — we do not guarantee smart-home compatibility across all motorised products.

Is installation straightforward for motorised blinds?

Rechargeable battery systems typically require no wiring and no electrician. Mains or hardwired systems require a suitable electrical connection and may need an electrician, depending on the installation. Your surveyor will confirm exactly what your chosen system requires during your free home visit.

Are motorised blinds cordless and child safe?

Where a blind is motorised, the chain, cord or wand is removed entirely, supporting UK child safety requirements. All our installations comply with current UK child safety legislation regardless of operation type.

What is the lead time for electric blinds?

Lead time depends on the underlying blind type and the motor system selected — it is not the same across every range. Your surveyor will confirm the exact lead time for your specification at your free home visit.
