Shaped shutters are manufactured to follow the specific geometry of your window. What is possible depends on the material, shutter range, dimensions, angle or radius, frame design, louvre layout and operating method — the exact configuration is always confirmed during survey rather than assumed in advance.

Circular Shutters — Made Around the Window
This circular shutter was made to follow the round opening rather than covering it with a rectangular frame. The louvres are individually sized to the changing width of the circle, while the shaped frame follows the window itself.
This is a genuine Blinds Kingdom fitting. Circular and porthole shapes are available on selected shutter ranges — your surveyor will confirm whether your chosen material and range supports the shape you need.

Wooden→
Real Paulownia hardwood. Supports a broad range of shaped configurations, including selected circular, arched, triangular, tapered and sunburst options.
Faux Wood→
HSPVC in white and off-white tones. Selected Faux Wood ranges support shaped configurations; availability depends on the required shape, dimensions and frame.
Composite→
Engineered Composite shutter material with reinforced structural components. Selected Composite ranges can accommodate a broad range of angular and curved shapes, subject to dimensions and survey.
Wood Grain→
Brushed Paulownia wood with a distinctive visible grain texture. Selected Wood Grain shutters can be manufactured for special-shaped windows, with the exact shape confirmed during survey.
Aluminium→
A contemporary powder-coated finish. Current Aluminium shaped options are focused on selected angular configurations — such as triangular and raked windows — rather than rounded shapes.

Angled, Tapered & Raked Windows
Loft conversions, gable ends and contemporary extensions often introduce tapered, trapezoid or raked window shapes rather than a standard rectangle. Shaped shutters can follow these angles closely on selected ranges.
As with all shaped configurations, the exact profile is confirmed by measurement at survey.
Curved Shapes Have Frame Restrictions
Curved shutters — circles, arches and sunbursts — can require specific frame profiles, so some frame choices available on rectangular shutters are not suitable for circular or arched windows.
Your surveyor will confirm which frame options apply to your chosen shape and material during your free home visit.
Aluminium Shaped Shutters — Where the Range Narrows
Aluminium's current shaped capability is more restricted than our other materials. Verified configurations are focused on selected angular shapes — triangular and raked or angled forms.
Aluminium is not currently offered for arches, circles, sunbursts or other rounded shapes. For those geometries, ask your surveyor about our Wooden, Faux Wood, Composite or Wood Grain ranges instead.
Composite Shaped Shutters
Selected Composite ranges can accommodate a broad range of angular and curved shapes, subject to dimensions and survey — including angled, triangle, raked and circular configurations, plus quarter-round, eyebrow sunburst, elongated eyebrow sunburst, half-round sunburst and multi-panel arched treatments, along with hexagonal and octagonal windows.
This broad capability applies to selected Composite ranges rather than the material as a whole — your surveyor will confirm which shapes are available for your specific window.
Louvre sizes
Louvre Sizes and Tilt Considerations
Available louvre sizes depend on the shape, material and dimensions of your window — not every size suits every shape. Additional sizes may be available on selected Wooden configurations; your surveyor will confirm what applies to your window. On some shaped configurations — particularly sunbursts, portholes and complex curves — the louvres are fixed in position rather than operable, with tilt and control options depending on the shape, material and panel design.
63mm louvres
Traditional close-spaced louvres. Suitability depends on the shape and dimensions of your window.
76mm louvres
The most widely specified size. Suitability depends on the shape and dimensions of your window.
89mm louvres
The widest louvre for maximum light. Suitability depends on the shape and dimensions of your window.
How We Measure Shaped Windows
Shaped windows need a more detailed survey than a standard rectangular window. Depending on the shape, your surveyor may need to establish the overall width and height, the centre height, the radius or curvature, and how the height changes across the opening.
For angled and tapered shapes, we also record the left and right angles and check the window's symmetry. Frame depth, window handles, obstructions, the direction the window opens and the fixing surface are all noted too, since these can all affect the shape and layout of the finished panel.
For curved openings, measurements are taken at multiple points across the shape to capture the exact profile accurately.
Shaped Shutters Are Not Blackout
Like any shutter, shaped shutters are a light-diffusing product rather than a blackout one. Natural light can remain between the louvres, around the shaped frame, at panel and frame junctions, and in curved or angled sections.
If greater darkness is a priority for a room, ask your surveyor about our dedicated Blackout Shutters — availability depends on the shape and configuration you need, and is not offered across every shaped configuration.
