Aluminium Shutters — Built for Interior and Exterior Spaces

Powder-coated aluminium shutters for interior and exterior spaces, in fixed, hinged or tracked configurations. Suitability for your specific opening is confirmed during survey.

Aluminium is the one shutter material in our range built for both interior and exterior use. Powder-coated aluminium construction gives it a weather-resistant, low-maintenance finish that suits demanding interior rooms as well as selected outdoor applications — something none of our other shutter materials are designed to do.

Panels can be fixed, hinged or sliding, depending on your opening and how you want them to operate. Adjustable louvres give you the same light and privacy control as any of our shutters. Exact suitability for your specific opening, and whether an exterior installation is appropriate, is confirmed during survey.

At Blinds Kingdom we supply and fit Aluminium Shutters across Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton. Every project starts with a free home visit, where we assess your space, discuss your requirements and confirm what's achievable.

Why Choose Aluminium Shutters?

Interior and Exterior Applications

Aluminium is the only material in our shutter range designed for both indoor rooms and selected outdoor applications, subject to survey.

Strong Aluminium Construction

Powder-coated aluminium gives a weather-resistant, low-maintenance finish that holds its colour and stands up well to everyday wear.

Fixed, Hinged or Sliding Configurations

Panels can be fixed in place, hinged to open like a standard shutter, or fitted to a track for sliding Bi-Fold or Bi-Pass operation.

Adjustable Louvre Light and Privacy Control

Louvres tilt open and closed to give you the same daylight and privacy control as any of our shutters.

Optional Locking Systems

Selected locking mechanisms can be specified for additional control over how your panels are secured, subject to configuration.

Exterior Aluminium Shutters

Aluminium's weather-resistant, powder-coated construction makes it suitable for selected exterior applications — including patios, balconies and glazed openings exposed to the elements, like the installation shown here.

It can also suit outdoor living areas, covered terraces and selected façade or screening applications. Exterior suitability depends on the specific location, exposure and fixing substrate, and is confirmed during survey.

Interior Aluminium Shutters

Indoors, Aluminium Shutters suit living spaces, kitchens, bathrooms and tall windows — anywhere a wipe-clean, low-maintenance finish is useful.

The same powder-coated construction that suits exterior use also makes Aluminium a practical choice for moisture-prone interior rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Special Shapes

Selected angular shapes are available in Aluminium, including triangular and raked or angled configurations — such as the gable-style opening shown here.

Aluminium's current shaped capability does not extend to arches, circles or other rounded shapes. For those geometries, ask your surveyor about our Wooden, Faux Wood, Composite or Wood Grain ranges instead — see our dedicated Shaped Shutters page for more detail.

Midrails and Tall Panels

Tall full-height Aluminium shutter panels fitted to a bedroom window

Taller panels, like the full-height window shown here, may need one or more midrails for structural support — a physical horizontal rail across the panel, not a second tilt control.

Whether a midrail is needed, and how many, depends on the panel height and configuration selected. Your surveyor will confirm this during your home visit.

How it works

Tracked Aluminium Shutters

For wide openings, Aluminium panels can be fitted to a track in one of two ways.

Tracked Bi-Fold

Panels are hinged together in groups and fold as the connected panels travel along the track, gathering toward one side. The final arrangement depends on opening width, panel count and configuration — not every Bi-Fold arrangement stacks completely clear of the opening.

Tracked Bi-Pass

Panels move on parallel track paths and slide past one another rather than folding into a hinged stack. Bypass panels normally overlap and stack behind one another, so the opening is not necessarily fully cleared when open.

Exact configuration depends on opening width, height and available stacking space — your surveyor confirms panel count and arrangement during survey.

Louvre sizes

Louvre Sizes

Aluminium Shutters are available with different louvre sizes depending on the selected interior or interior/exterior specification. Final suitability depends on panel size, configuration and installation type, confirmed during survey.

How it works

Locking Options

Optional locking mechanisms can provide additional control for suitable applications.

Flush Bolts

Bolts that sit flush within the panel when not in use, securing it top and bottom into the surrounding frame.

Locking Louvres

The louvres themselves can be locked in position, preventing adjustment from outside the panel when closed.

Double Shoot Lock

A lock and key mechanism securing the panel at both top and bottom simultaneously.

Availability depends on the selected configuration — confirmed during survey.

Light, Privacy and Ventilation

Adjustable louvres give you the same daylight and privacy control as any of our shutters — tilt them to control how much light enters and how visible the space is from outside.

This is not a blackout product — visible light gaps can remain around and between the louvres. If a specific room needs substantially enhanced darkness, our dedicated Blackout Shutters may be a better fit — ask your surveyor for more information.

Survey and Suitability

Aluminium Shutters aren't automatically suitable for every opening, especially exterior applications, so your surveyor checks a number of things before confirming your installation: opening width and height, whether the installation is interior or exterior, panel arrangement, and whether a track is needed.

For tracked configurations, we also check fold or stack direction and available stacking clearance. We confirm the shape of your opening, louvre choice, whether a midrail is required, any locking requirement, the fixing substrate, exposure to the elements, threshold or track position, and the clearance needed for the panels to operate.

Only once all of this is confirmed will we recommend Aluminium Shutters for your opening.
