Faux Wood Blinds — The Wood Look, Built to Last

All the elegance of a wooden blind — with excellent moisture resistance and outstanding durability. Made to measure faux wood blinds in a range of colours and finishes, ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and any room in the home. Supplied and fitted across Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton.

Faux wood blinds give you the clean lines, the structured slat aesthetic and the elegant appearance of a real wooden blind — without any of the sensitivity to moisture that makes real wood unsuitable for certain rooms.

Made from durable PVC with a sophisticated wood grain or smooth contemporary finish, our faux wood blinds are well suited to bathrooms, kitchens and other high-moisture areas where real wood is not appropriate.

Please note: faux wood blinds are not recommended for conservatories. The extreme temperature fluctuations and excessive heat build-up in a conservatory environment can cause PVC slats to warp or deform over time. For conservatories, pleated/cellular blinds or another suitable conservatory-specific system may be more appropriate depending on the glazing and heat conditions. Your surveyor will advise on the best option for your specific space during your home visit.

At Blinds Kingdom we supply and fit made to measure faux wood blinds across Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton. Every blind is made to your exact measurements and every order begins with a free home visit where we bring samples and take accurate measurements.

Why Choose Faux Wood Blinds?

Moisture Resistant

Made from durable PVC, faux wood blinds are well suited to bathrooms, kitchens and other high-moisture areas — the practical choice where real wood blinds are not suitable.

The Look of Real Wood — Without the Limitations

Available in both smooth contemporary finishes and realistic wood grain effects, faux wood blinds closely emulate the appearance of real timber. From across the room the difference is virtually imperceptible — but the performance difference in a high-moisture environment is significant.

Suitable for Almost Every Room

Unlike real wooden blinds, faux wood blinds can be fitted in bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms with excellent resistance to moisture and humidity. From elegant living rooms and bedrooms through to the most demanding wet rooms in the home — one material, exceptional versatility. The one exception is conservatories, where excessive heat build-up can cause PVC slats to deform — pleated/cellular blinds or another suitable conservatory-specific system may be more appropriate there.

Precise Light and Privacy Control

The classic venetian blind mechanism gives you smooth, precise control over light and privacy at any time of day. Tilt the slats to any angle — fully open for maximum light, fully closed for privacy, or anywhere in between.

Colour Coordinated Throughout

Every component of the blind — headrail, bottom bar, cord condenser, toggles, cords and ladder braids — is colour coordinated to the slat colour for a clean, consistent, well-finished appearance.

Smooth and Wood Grain Finishes

Our faux wood blinds are available in two surface finishes — each suited to different interior styles and preferences.

Smooth Finish — A clean, flat painted surface with a contemporary appearance. The smooth finish gives a crisp, modern look that works particularly well in minimal and contemporary interiors, and in bathrooms and kitchens where a clean, clinical feel is preferred.

Wood Grain / Fine Grain Finish — A textured surface that replicates the look of natural wood grain — giving a warmer, more natural appearance that is closer in character to a real wooden blind. Available in a range of natural wood tones as well as painted colours with a grained surface effect.

Slat Widths and Decorative Tapes

35mm Slats — A refined slat size with closer spacing — giving a more traditional blind look. Available in the smooth finish range.

50mm Slats — The wider, more contemporary slat size — more light when open, a bolder look when closed. Available in both smooth and wood grain finishes. A popular choice for bathroom and kitchen installations.

Decorative Ladder Tapes — Decorative ladder tapes are available as an optional addition — fabric strips running vertically through the slats that replace the standard cord ladders and add a decorative woven detail to the blind. Available in 25mm width as standard, with 38mm width available on 50mm slats.

Operation and Child Safety

Standard Operation — Faux wood blinds are operated by cord — a tilt cord to rotate the slats and a raise cord to lift the blind.

Child Safety — All faux wood blinds comply with UK child safety legislation. Every blind is supplied with a colour coordinated cord condenser and a two-part safety cleat. The cord condenser consolidates the lift cords into a single string and is designed to break away if excessive force is applied. The safety cleat allows the cord to be secured and wrapped out of reach of children.

Child safety devices are a legal requirement — not an option. If a customer declines to allow the fitting of the required safety devices, we are unable to install the blind.

Motorised Operation — A motorised tilt option is available for faux wood blinds — allowing you to tilt the slats at the touch of a button. Please note that motorised faux wood blinds offer tilt control only — they do not raise or lower motorised.

Light Gaps — What to Expect

As with all venetian blinds, faux wood blinds will have some degree of light bleed at the edges — this is inherent to how the product works and is not a defect.

Inside the Recess — Where the window recess is suitable, blinds are normally fitted inside the recess for a clean, integrated finish. Some light will enter at the sides and bottom where the blind does not reach the recess walls.

Outside the Recess (Face Fix) — Outside-recess fitting may be recommended or requested where the recess is too shallow, there is no suitable recess surface, window hardware or other obstructions prevent an inside fit, or where you prefer to keep the full window sill available for plants, ornaments or other items. For better light coverage, the blind should overlap the window opening by a reasonable margin on each side.

An outside-recess fit is not a total-blackout solution — some light bleed or a halo effect around the blind can still remain. Venetian blinds also allow some light between the slats even when closed, so changing from an inside to an outside fit does not turn faux wood blinds into a blackout product.

The industry standard for assessing blinds of this type is to view them from approximately 2 metres under normal room lighting.

Ideal Rooms for Faux Wood Blinds

Bathrooms — An excellent application for faux wood blinds. Highly moisture resistant and well suited to steam and condensation.

Kitchens — Well suited to cooking steam, grease and moisture — faux wood blinds maintain their appearance in kitchen environments better than fabric or real wood alternatives.

Living Rooms — The elegant, structured look of a faux wood blind works beautifully in living rooms — particularly where a natural timber aesthetic is wanted alongside practical durability.

Bedrooms — A popular bedroom choice — the wood grain finish adds warmth and natural character while the moisture-resistant PVC ensures long-term performance.

Conservatories — Faux wood blinds are not recommended for conservatories due to the risk of warping caused by excessive heat build-up. Pleated/cellular blinds or another suitable conservatory-specific system may be more appropriate, depending on the glazing and heat conditions.

Utility Rooms and Wet Rooms — For utility rooms, wet rooms and any space with high moisture levels — faux wood blinds are the practical, long-lasting solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between faux wood and real wood blinds?

Faux wood blinds are made from high quality PVC rather than real timber. They closely emulate the look of wood in both smooth and wood grain finishes — but are highly moisture resistant, making them suitable for bathrooms and kitchens where real wood blinds would warp and deteriorate. Real wood blinds offer the genuine warmth and natural character of timber but are not suitable for high-moisture environments.

Are faux wood blinds suitable for bathrooms?

Yes — faux wood blinds are an excellent choice for bathrooms. They offer excellent moisture resistance and are well suited to steam and condensation, unlike real wood which can warp, swell or deteriorate in a high-humidity environment.

Can faux wood blinds be motorised?

A motorised tilt option is available — allowing you to tilt the slats at the touch of a button. Please note this is tilt control only — motorised raise and lower is not available on faux wood blinds.

Is Perfect Fit® available for faux wood blinds?

No — Perfect Fit® is not available for faux wood blinds. If you need a no-drill solution for a uPVC window, please discuss the options with your surveyor during your free home visit.

How do I clean faux wood blinds?

For everyday dust, close the slats and wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. For marks, a damp cloth is sufficient. The PVC material is durable and easy to maintain. Do not use abrasive cleaning products on the slat surface.

What is the lead time for faux wood blinds?

Our faux wood blinds are made to measure with a typical lead time of 3–4 weeks from confirmed order.
