Dark Shutters — A Different Look
This genuine Blinds Kingdom installation shows a dark shutter with the louvres tilted toward closed. Dark finishes like this create a strong contrast against paler walls and can suit both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A darker colour does not change how the shutter itself performs — it still works the same way as any other shutter for daylight and privacy control.
Colour Seen from Outside
This genuine Blinds Kingdom installation shows two green shuttered windows on the same façade. Internal shutter colour can be visible from outside through the glazing, which can influence the appearance of your home's exterior as well as the room itself.
It's worth considering both how a colour will look in the room and how it may read from outside — particularly where more than one window on the same wall will be shuttered. Your surveyor can talk through this with you during your home visit.

Wooden→
The broadest colour capability — painted tones, natural wood stains and a wood grain texture finish, plus custom colour matching to Farrow & Ball, Dulux and Little Greene Paint Co. on selected orders (surcharge applies).
Faux Wood→
Colour availability varies by range, with a wider palette — including grey tones — available on selected options.
PVC→
A focused range of white and off-white tones. For a wider colour range, our Faux Wood, Composite or Wooden ranges offer more options.
Composite→
Classic white finishes as standard, with additional painted colours available on selected ranges.
Wood Grain→
An extensive range of painted colours plus stained wood grain tones that let the natural grain show through, with a custom colour option available on request.
Aluminium→
Dedicated exterior and interior colour ranges, plus a custom colour service for both — custom options may affect lead time.
Selected Custom Colour Matching
Selected wooden ranges can be colour matched to recognised paint references — including Farrow & Ball, Dulux and Little Greene Paint Co. — subject to supplier capability, confirmation and a surcharge.
Selected Wood Grain and Aluminium ranges also offer their own custom colour options — availability varies by range. This is not a guarantee of an exact match across every material or finish; your surveyor will confirm what is achievable for your chosen material and range.
Painted Colour vs. Wood Stain
A painted finish gives an opaque, consistent colour across the shutter. A wood stain, by contrast, lets the natural grain and character of the timber remain visible beneath the colour.
Stains are material-specific and are only available on Wooden and Wood Grain shutters — they are not available on synthetic materials such as Faux Wood, PVC, Composite or Aluminium. Exact stain and paint options depend on the selected wood range.
Light and Privacy
Choosing a colour does not change how a shutter controls light. Adjustable louvres provide daylight and privacy control in the usual way, whatever colour or finish you choose — light can still pass between louvres, frames and panel junctions.

What We Check During Survey
Your surveyor measures your windows, confirms the shutter material and configuration you'd like, and brings a full sample collection so you can see colours, stains and finishes in your own natural and artificial light.
We confirm which colours, stains and custom-match options your chosen material and range actually support, along with your louvre size and any surrounding wall, joinery or exterior considerations relevant to your choice.
If more than one room is being fitted, your surveyor can also help you decide whether to keep the same colour throughout or vary it room to room.
